In the last two years, over a million Indians have used Airbnb, an online marketplace for short-term home rentals. It doubled its local revenues last year—encouraging the company to launch a new line of business offering travellers a slice of local experiences in Delhi. In 2017, Bajaj and Airbnb’s founder, Brian Chesky, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and promised to add 50,000 new hosts in India, thereby creating an ecosystem that would generate employment. India already has 30,000 listed hosts, up from 5,000 in 2014.
