Bansal (right), an engineer based in the U.S., decided to quit his job in 2007 and take a bet. In 2010, he founded Lenskart. Today, the eyewear retailer is set to become the newest unicorn in India if a deal with SoftBank for $350 million in fresh funding materialises. With plans to expand to tier 2 and tier 3 cities, the firm is eyeing a 50% market share in the next 10 years. This year, Lenskart forayed into Singapore and plans to enter more geographies soon. It expects its revenue to grow to ₹500 crore in FY19 from ₹310 crore in FY18. Looks like Bansal’s bet has paid off.
