German luxury car manufacturer Audi on Friday launched the new Audi Q8 e-tron in India – just a few months after its global launch.
The electric vehicle comes with a 114-kilowatt battery, which the carmaker claims is the biggest in the segment.
Audi Q8 55 e-tron and Audi Q8 Sportback 55 e-tron have a driving range of up to 600 kilometres on a single charge. Audi Q8 50 e-tron and Audi Q8 Sportback 50 e-tron offer a driving range of up to 505 km on a single charge.
The Audi Q8 e-tron comes with improved performance, bigger batteries and an enhanced drive range to take forward the legacy of the e-tron, the carmaker says.
"Today, we take another step forward in our journey of electric mobility and we could not be happier to launch these beautiful electric cars. The larger battery packs not only bring in added range but also enhance the value proposition of the models," says Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India.
"The Audi Q8 e-tron is at the heart of our electric mobility strategy and gives us a strong base to build upon as we journey towards electrifying our line-up. With the addition of the new Audi Q8 e-tron and the Audi Q8 Sportback e-tron; we now have the widest EV portfolio in the segment," says Dhillon.
With electric motors at the front and rear, the Audi Q8 55 e-tron and Audi Q8 Sportback 55 e-tron produce a combined power of 408 hp and 664 Nm torque. Similarly, the Audi Q8 50 e-tron and Audi Q8 Sportback 50 e-tron generate a power of 340 hp and 664 Nm torque.
The Audi Q8 55 e-tron and Audi Q8 Sportback 55 e-tron accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, while the Audi Q8 50 e-tron and Audi Q8 Sportback 50 e-tron take 6 seconds, says the luxury carmaker.
These cars feature the e-quattro all-wheel drive system with three modes: auto, dynamic and off-road. Adaptive air suspension is offered with adjustable ride height. These cars have a maximum ground clearance of 226 mm.
Charging sockets are provided on both sides for parking flexibility and ease of use, the company says.
Audi is offering complimentary charging for Audi Q8 e-tron customers till the end of the year at over 1,000 charge point operators across India as part of the ‘myAudi connect’ app. Audi claims these cars can charge from 10% to 80% in 31 minutes. The company is offering a high voltage battery warranty of 8 years or 160,000 km whichever occurs first.
In terms of safety, the car comes with 8 airbags. It also features lane departure warning which helps avoid crossing recognised lane markings by means of corrective steering interventions.
