Reliance Industries Ltd Chairman Mukesh Ambani, on the first day of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 today, said Reliance has invested over $150 billion (₹12 lakh crore) in creating world-class assets and capacities across India in the last just 10 years. “Of this, more than one-third has been invested in Gujarat alone,” says Ambani.
At the inaugural session of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024, Ambani made five commitments.
“First, Reliance will continue to play a leading role in Gujarat’s growth story with significant investments in the next ten years.”
He says Reliance will contribute to making Gujarat a global leader in green growth. “We will help Gujarat’s target to meet half of its energy needs through renewables by 2030.”
He also says RIL has started building the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex over 5,000 acres in Jamnagar, which will generate a large number of green jobs and enable the production of green products and materials that will make Gujarat the leading exporter of green products. “We are ready to roll this out in the second half of 2024 itself.”
Mukesh Ambani says his company’s second priority is the fastest rollout of 5G infrastructure. “Today Gujarat is fully 5G enabled – something that most of the world does not yet have. This will make Gujarat a Global Leader in Digital Data Platforms and AI Adoption. 5G-enabled AI revolution will make Gujarat’s economy more productive, more efficient and more globally competitive.”
Besides millions of new jobs, it will produce AI-enabled doctors, AI-enabled teachers and AI-enabled farmers, who will revolutionise healthcare, education and agricultural productivity in Gujarat, says Ambani.
As a third priority, Ambani says Reliance Retail will further accelerate its mission to bring quality products to consumers and simultaneously empower lakhs of “kisans” and small merchants.
Ambani’s fourth commitment is to make Gujarat a pioneer in “new materials” and “circular economy”. “As a first step, Reliance is setting up India’s first and world-class Carbon Fibre facility at Hazira.”
RIL’s fifth commitment concerns sports. He says Prime Minister Modi announced India will bid for the 2036 Olympics. “Reliance and Reliance Foundation will join forces with several other partners in Gujarat to improve the education, sports and skills infrastructure that will nurture the champions of tomorrow.”
He also appreciated PM Modi for helping India reach the global stage in every sphere. “Today’s India is the best time to be young and to innovate.”
He says he has been one of the “fortunate few” to have participated in every single edition of the Vibrant Gujarat. “I have come from the City of the Gateway of India to the Gateway of Modern India’s Growth - Gujarat. I am a proud Gujarati. When foreigners think of NEW INDIA, they think of a New Gujarat,” says the chairman of the oil-to-telecom behemoth.
Remembering his father’s words, he said, his father Dhirubhai Ambani used to tell him in his childhood: “Gujarat is your MATRUBHOOMI (motherland), and Gujarat should always remain your KARMABHOOMI (workplace).”
Declaring his company’s commitment to the state, Ambani says “Reliance was, is, and will always remain a Gujarati company”.
