"Survival of the fittest" goes the age-old adage, and accordingly, an individual or an organisation yields outcomes and marches ahead basing on merits apart from team as well as enterprising spirit in sync with the varying needs of the hour.
Let's here cite a term called "meritocracy" that lexically means: "A society governed by people selected according to merit."
Basing on an opinion opined by a section of experts, "Britain is a meritocracy, and everyone with skill and imagination may aspire to reach the highest level". Same is the case with most of the developed nations and being emulated even in some of their seriously developing counterparts.
This may sound to be a mere hypothesis, but it's a fact that has been time-tested and okayed that a "merit-based culture" could catapult the growth-graph of an organisation as well as the individual worker's career progress report.
Capital/Finance/Money undoubtedly matters to run a firm/society. Nevertheless, the team work contributed by each and every industrious-cum-meritorious worker propels the wheels of progress that keeps on adding dividends.
In return to the contributions of the workforce, the workplace should also opt for providing the contributors their individual dues of promotional and other opportunities of perks and perquisites so that the merits exhibited by them don't get marred by the myopic mindset of the organisational chief just only to mint money and earn profit for stuffing personal coffer giving a damn to the real money-minters and profit-makers.
Thus, the leader(s) of the firm(s)/organisation(s) need to devise the apt ways and means to religiously record the database of the merits exhibited and accomplished by an individual employee as well as the team so that the tender fillip and impetus to be bestowed upon them by measuring the metrics of merits at regular intervals.
In this context, the experts bat for DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) in a workplace. According to them, "It is a policy and practice designed to make people of various backgrounds feel welcome and ensure they have the support to perform to the fullest of their abilities in the workplace."
Also, it ought to be strictly observed that the devastating practice of partiality or discrimination or nepotism mustn't raise fangs of disparity or anomaly that would foment the brewing resentment among the workers causing catastrophic consequences.
It all means that measures taken timely and meaningfully can prevent or ward off ill-effects. Moreover, favourable circumstances have to be created and maintained before and after foraying into a venture or course of action.
After all, "A stitch in time saves nine," and "Hay is made while the sun shines." Every flower has a season to bloom in the cosy nook, but the sapling needs to be nursed and nurtured in the natural order of calibration well in advance.
