She heads one of the fastest growing operations of the world’s largest spirits company, Diageo, which owns iconic brands such as Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, VAT 69, Baileys, and Guinness. Sankaranarayanan joined Tata Administrative Services in 1992. She was then fast-tracked across a range of roles in the Tata Group. But it is her experience as the deputy CEO of Mount Everest Mineral Water that fortified her branding skills—something that will come in handy as she seeks to leverage the Diageo brands. Sankaranarayanan is also vice chairman of the Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies, the apex body of the wine and spirits.
