After divesting its apparel retail chain Pantaloons, the Future Group has turned its focus to developing its own brands of consumer goods through Future Consumer. And leading the charge is Future Group chairman Kishore Biyani’s daughter, Ashni Biyani. In the past four years, Future Consumer has launched two dozen new brands across categories such as snacks, staples, home, and personal care. Under her leadership, Future Consumer is focussing on taking on large Indian and multinational FMCG rivals by betting on modern retail and digital commerce as key distribution platforms; and by relying on data science to devise the right product for the right consumer. A textile designer by qualification, she has led the consolidation and integration of the entire value chain at Future Consumer—from operating one of the largest agrisourcing networks to manufacturing, brand development, distribution, and retailing through modern retail and digital platforms. Future Consumer’s consolidated revenue logged a CAGR of 32% over the past four years to rise to ₹3,881 crore in FY19. The company also turned profitable after tax in the fourth quarter of FY19.
