Earlier this year, NEA , a sectoragnostic, mid-market venture capital outfit raised a $2.6 billion fund called NEA 14, of which roughly 15% has been allocated for India. One of the largest venture funds in the world and an early backer of Groupon globally, NEA has funded daycare medical chain Nova Medical Centers, Trishe Energy, and e-commerce site Naaptol. com. Capital under management (amount of funds available to the VC for investment) has doubled from about $200 million in 2010 to about $400 million. That’s separate from what she can and will invest from the NEA 14 fund in future.
