Heritage Foods is one of South India’s largest food companies and divides operations into four divisions—dairy, retail, agricultural, and bakery—which generated a turnover of Rs 1,606 crore this year. That was a growth of 15% over the previous year. Add a 400%-plus increase in net profit, and it’s easy to see why Heritage is one of the more exciting growth stories in the food business in South India. The company reaches some 1.5 million customers daily and is Nestlé’s only packaging partner for yoghurt in South India. Bhuvaneswari, an art graduate, has been with the company for some 19 years. She’s obviously doing something right to have the company clipping along at this pace. The board evidently approves: Her term as MD was recently extended by five years, effective July.
