With Kidwai at the helm, HSBC executed some of the biggest cross-border deals in 2013 and the first half of 2014—leading to about $8 billion worth of fund inflow. HSBC India was sole manager to Britain’s GlaxoSmithKline Plc’s $1 billion share buyback in its Indian pharma arm and jointly managed Diageo’s $1.9 billion open offer in its Indian subsidiary, United Spirits. Other key deals include Unilever’s $3.2 billion share buyback in Hindustan Unilever and Etihad Airways’ stake purchase in Jet Airways. Kidwai has diverse interests. She is vice chair of Global Advisory Council of the World Economic Forum for Water and Sanitation and the first woman to head FICCI.
