This has been an exciting year for Ruparel. She and others from the startup entrepreneur-investor community, who had been crusading for the relaxation of ‘angel tax’ norms, were able to get the government to expand the definition of startups and ease tax norms for new businesses. This year, IAN has also anchored three successful cash exits for angel investors as well as the IAN Fund. In 2018, IAN investors took cash exits from eight successful highvalue startups. Next, Ruparel says, the goal is “to enable ₹5,000 crore in over 500 Indian startups, over a decade”.
