The silver lining for NDTV this year has been its Hindi news channel NDTV India, which clocked “record-breaking revenues” and achieved Ebitda breakeven. Roy will be hoping that the punt to create “India’s first dual channel”— combining the loss-making business channel NDTV Profit with a new infotainment channel called NDTV Prime—works out. The new property has roped in Micromax and NSE as sponsors. But the broadcaster, which turned 25 last year, has not had a good time otherwise. Turnover decreased by Rs 20 crore to Rs 460 crore, and the bottom line is still in the red, with losses of Rs 84 crore.
