Vice president and India head, Meta
SANDHYA Devanathan brings 22 years of experience in banking, payments and technology. Her journey with Meta began after a 17-year stint abroad, primarily in Singapore. Her return marked a significant transition. “I had a pretty steep learning curve,” she says. Meta reported global revenues of $134.9 billion in 2023, 16% more than $116.6 billion in 2022. Net income was $39.1 billion in 2023, 69% higher than $23.2 billion in 2022.
In last 12 months, Meta has prioritised three key areas: AI, messaging and creator empowerment. Devanathan emphasises the transformative potential of AI. “Meta and its AI suite of products can turbocharge this transformation,” she says. “In April, we had around 1.2 million downloads of our Llama models,” she says, pointing out that a substantial chunk of these come from Indian developers. Messaging, particularly through WhatsApp, is another cornerstone of Meta’s strategy in India.
