Schauna & Nadia Chauhan,
CEO; Joint MD and chief marketing officer, Parlé Agroage: 44,34
The Chauhan sisters had set a revenue target of ₹10,000
crore for Parlé Agro by 2022. And the beverage major
seems to have stayed the course even during the challenging
months of the Covid-19 pandemic, growing its market share
by nearly 10%. Frooti, its flagship mango drink, also managed to gain 6% market share in Q2 of 2020, year-on-year.
Not surprisingly, sales on e-commerce platforms grew 300%
over last year. In the sparkling fruit-based beverage category,
Parlé holds 99% share with Appy Fizz, their fizzy apple drink,
which has seen double-digit growth. A reason for this could
be the 160 ml pack, priced at ₹10, which they launched last
year. Parlé has also increased capacity at its plants by 35%.
The sisters are now looking at expanding their company’s
global footprint with new franchisee manufacturing and distribution set-ups in Bahrain and Angola, and soon in Nepal.
While Schauna handles operations, Nadia looks after marketing of their focussed portfolio, which includes brands such
as Appy, Appy Fizz, B Fizz (a malt-flavoured fruit juice-based
drink), Bailley Soda, Dhishoom, and Frooti. In 2018, the
sisters had achieved their turnover target of ₹5,000 crore and
are now focussed on the 2022 target.
