At a time when the media industry is going through a tough phase with occasional rounds of layoffs, Bhartia is in it for the long haul. In the first quarter of FY20, HT Media’s consolidated total income stood at ₹588 crore, an increase of 3% from last year. But it is going to be difficult as the company’s advertising revenues from the print business have suffered a drop of 9%. Still, because of softening newsprint prices, the company saw a growth in operating profit and profitability.
