VINITA GUPTA has played a crucial role in Lupin’s global success, driving expansion through acquisitions and launches. Lupin Pharma, founded by her father, late Desh Bandhu Gupta in 1968, initially focused on manufacturing TB drugs. “We witnessed strong growth in revenues and operating margins across key markets U.S. and India, as well as other regions,” says Vinita, CEO, Lupin Limited.
Lupin is making substantial progress in complex generics, particularly in the respiratory segment, resulting in the launch of gSpiriva (tiotropium). “In India we developed and launched Vilfuro-G, an inhaler for management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,” says Vinita. In Europe, it expanded the availability of orphan drug Namuscla for non-Dystrophic Myotonia, and started a trial to expand the product indication to Dystrophic Myotonia. Both these disorders affect muscle contraction.
