The deadly second wave of the Coronavirus sweeping across India has put a massive strain on the country’s health infrastructure. One of the biggest concerns has been the acute shortage of oxygen across hospitals in Delhi and the National Capital Region, Mumbai, and several other places. The last couple of weeks has seen hospitals across the national capital asking for help, pointing towards their fast-depleting oxygen reserves.

The crisis has another dimension. It has brought many citizens and civil society together in combating the issue. Many non-profit organisations and citizen-led volunteer groups have been working round-the-clock in trying to procure oxygen and making them available to the patients.
