Google today released the new Pixel 8 series and the Pixel Watch 2 at the Made by Google event in New York. These are now available for pre-orders in India.
The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are built with AI at the centre and are powered by Google Tensor G3. Stealing a march on Samsung, these phones will get as many as seven years of software updates, including Android OS upgrades, security updates, and regular feature drops. The Pixel phones will be running Android 14 right out of the box.
Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are designed with softer silhouettes, metal finishes, and 100% recycled aluminum housing. Pixel 8 has a 6.2-inch Actua display, which is 42% brighter than Pixel 7’s display. Pixel 8 comes in Rose, Hazel, and Obsidian. Pixel 8 Pro’s 6.7-inch Super Actua display features Google’s brightest display yet. It also has a matte glass back with a polished aluminum frame and comes in two colours: Bay and Obsidian. Also, on the back of the Pixel 8 Pro, is a new temperature sensor that lets users quickly scan an object to get its temperature.
Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro come with an upgraded camera setup and new editing tools. The phones have a new 50-megapixel main camera, with what Google says is 21% more light sensitive than Pixel 7. Pixel 8 has an updated ultra-wide camera with autofocus that enables Macro Focus.
The Pixel 8 is priced at an MRP of 75,999 and the Pixel 8 Pro is priced at an MRP of 106,999. Both devices will be available for purchase starting 12th October on Flipkart in India.

It has an always-on display and 24-hour battery life.
