Airtel shares were down 0.6%; stake sale decision by Singtel is part of its plan to raise over S$2 billion to meet needs for 5G and expansion initiatives.
Singtel has sold a 1.76% stake in Bharti Airtel for an aggregate amount of ₹6,399 crore, which was mostly acquired by Bharti Telecom, a promoter entity of the Indian telco.
The stake buy strengthens the Bharti family's shareholding in Airtel; now the direct shareholding of Singtel and the Bharti family in Airtel will stand at 10% and 6%, respectively
