Between April 2022 and February 2023, passenger vehicle sales stood at 34,61,716 units, whereas the production stood at 40,76,780 units.
The auto wholesalers' body says positive announcements in the Budget to help in continuing with the overall growth momentum.

Vehicle sales fell 13.08% from a year ago. The saving grace for the auto industry, which has seen falling sales for more than a year, came from sales of utility vehicles, which saw a 30% spike.
Sales of passenger vehicles, which showed marginal growth in October, also fell last month.
Overall sales of the auto industry, which has been facing headwinds for more than a year, fell 12.34% to 1,997,952 units in June from 2,279,186 units a year ago.
SIAM says global factors such as a slow-growing world economy and the ongoing trade war between the U.S. and China will pose a major challenge to India’s automobile industry.
