With a net worth of around ₹84,330 crore, Roshni Nadar Malhotra is the first woman to head a listed IT company in the country. Formerly producer, Roshni created children’s film Halkaa, in 2018, and a TV series for the Animal Planet/Discovery based on the most endangered wildlife species in India — On The Brink. She is also the chairperson of HCL Technologies and undertakes all strategic decisions for the company. At the helm of things, Roshni is building on the legacy built by her father, the founder and chairman emeritus of the HCL Group — Shiv Nadar.
India’s third-largest IT services player, HCL Tech has consolidated itself with revenues of $12.6 billion in FY23 enabled by 225,000+ employees across 60 countries. In FY23, HCL Tech crossed ₹100,000 crore in revenue for the first time, backed by strong performance across verticals. Moreover, HCL’s software business crossed $1 billion in annual recurring revenue. “We also delivered the highest total shareholder return (among large IT services firms) in India,” says Nadar. Roshni leads The Habitats Trust, and is a member of the dean’s advisory council at the MIT School of Engineering, besides being a trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation and on the board of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum.
