Mody says it was a tough year for India Inc. She’s had to substantially increase her team’s headcount—adding 25 lawyers to handle the increase in litigation work. Mody has also continued to play an advisory role in big-ticket mergers. Notably, Temasek’s stake sale in Bharti Telecom to SingTel for $350 million, and News Corp’s acquisition of ESPN’s interest in ESPN STAR Sports. This year, she was selected to be on the Chandrashekhar Committee on ‘The Rationalisation of Investment Routes and Monitoring of Foreign Portfolio Investments’, an initiative to facilitate foreign investment into India.
