Amongst passenger vehicles, the medium-sized SUV (sports utility vehicles) segment contributed 39% in value to ₹1.98 lakh crore with its market share growing from 10% in 2013 to 38% in 2023.
The ratings agency says the demand for passenger vehicles has remained healthy since the beginning of the calendar year, led by strong demand and an easing up of semiconductor shortages.
Between the July and September quarter this year, the total production of passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three-wheelers, two-wheelers, and four-wheelers stood at 7,353,039 units.
